Question

Hi guys, I got some non-spent shells with my KT and wanted to use them. Where on the tank could I put them? I have two guys walking beside the KT, I just wanted to put them somewhere cause they look good[^]

Should I just leave them off?

Thanks, Anthony.

Spent casings are normally tossed out the hatch. I think the KT has an ammo loading hatch at the rear of the turret. It is also used to toss out spent casing. They would end up on the back deck of the tank and eventually just roll off and onto the ground.

Ya I know that, but I have non-spent shells, where could these go?

OK, live tank rounds are handled carefully since they are electically fired. Many modelers just pile them in a diorama stacked like cord wood. It’s not correct, but seems to be the going way to do it.

Just a few observations on the subject, Anthony. To use your “live” ammo you would probably depict your King in a well hidden position fully camoulflaged out of site of US aircraft. Usually a couple of crewman passing fresh ammo into the access hatch at the turret rear. Refitting with fuel , ammo and whatever was done at night during the Ardennes offensive. There are exceptions to this obviously, but outside of displaying your interior, I can’t think of anyother options.

theres a photo of a Kingtiger with a 88 round on the front fender
the alies put it there for a photo

why dont you just get the tamiya ammo loading crew kit

IJust wondering if the kit instructions show anything about the placement of these rounds ? Box pictures ,instructions ?

I’m taking mine and cutting off the tips and drilling them out as spent casings. Not real creative but effective.
