Oh Come On!! You have to fine up your definition a bit!
Single engine, Twin, jet, Day,Night etc
The single engine type has to be for me the Spitfire/Seafire/Seafang/Spiteful series.
Twins. Beaufighter (versitile too) Mossie, Ju88 (just to show I’m not biased.)
Now that should stir the pot a bit.
Dai
PS I’ll put in the Wirraway because it was there when needed. Shot down a Zero too!
Yamamoto! That’s the guy’s name! Oi. I hate that feeling of knowing who i’m talking to but i forget his/her name… to only have you remember it at 2am two days later… We should start to pull for the unusual fighters like the “F-17 Flying fortress” and the “F-24 Liberator”!! I agree about the P-61. it pulled its share of fighter duty and was supposedly very deadly.
Hey, you have any of those pics of the '24 “dogfight”? or at least where i can get them?? [:D]
to be biased, of course we all are!
CORSAIR- any varient yup![bow]
to be a fighter pilot is to be god in your machine!
I think this quote from the Battle of Britain movie says it all…
Luftwaffe General: “What do you need to defeat the British[:(!]?”
Luftwaffe Officer: “Sir…We need Spitfires!!”
[:D][:D]
I would like to thank everyone who responded…this has got to be the coolest thing that FSM could have done for modelers…thanks again and happy modeling!!!
In the naval aviation role the F4U, in the land based role the P-51. Both aircraft flew through most of WWII and into Korea.

I am a big P-51 fan, Not only was it great in combat, but it is a darn sexy plane too!
It would be the Corsair for me. Living near Chino it’s nice to see one fly every so often.
