I picked up Airfix’s 1/72 kit of the Fw 190D, and markings for the “Red 1” aircraft are included. Of course, I can resist building this version. However, for this particular aircraft, I have no idea what RLM colors the upper surfaces would be. If anyone could give me a hand here (now I KNOW someone here has built a Fw 190D! Don’t lie!), it would be appreciated. Thank you very much. [:D][tup]
Mike the book Doras of the Galland Circus has real good color artist rederings the book is out of print but i know where you can get. PM me and i’ll send you the link.
I just need to get the RLM numbers for the upper camo. Doing some online surfing I think I saw RLM 82 and 83, but as I said, I’m not sure. But it never hurts to have all the help you can get. Just e-mail me the link (I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to send you a private message). Thanks.
I sent you PM with the link give it a try.
Mike,
Yep, JV44’s “Rote 1” was RLM 82/83 on the upper surfaces, RLM 76 (of varying shades) and RLM 23 underneath.
Eagle Cals has a great sheet on all four birds. Someday I’ll get back to finishing them all…
