Yet another question to help me along in my detailing efforts.
I have scoured my resources and it is unclear to me about what’s going on with the smoke candle ‘chains’. It often looks as if a length of chain has BOTH ends attached to the ‘candle’ or cannister. That would look like a “loop” with the chain attached and then dropping down only to come back up and attach again to each cannister. Sometimes it almost looks as if it’s attached at one end and then dangles freely with the other end hanging down below.
So which is it? If particulars matter I’m now working on a Panzer 1.
Thanks in advance for the wealth of knowledge on these boards and your willingness to share and help!
The chain does indeed “loop”, one end attaches to the top of the holder rack, the other end attaches to the grenade itself. When the mechanical release lever is tripped inside the vehicle, the grenade falls away and the chain “pulls the pin” so-to-speak, so the chain would remain attached to the rack when the grenade is released. Hope that makes sense.
