Morning all,
I just picked up this jem yesterday and can not believe actually how nice of a kit this truly is. The last time I built this was back in Junior High…
So here are my questions… Who makes after market items such as interior and exterior for this? Does not matter, it can be either resin, PE or both…
Also, do any of the AM decal co’s make decals for the Su-25? I thought at one point somebody did but it is escaping me…
Thank you for helping…

Linden Hill Imports has decals for the SU-25 under their own line. They also carry resin Neomega cockpits for the Revell kit in 1/48.
The biggest problem with the Revell kit is that it’s based on the pre-production aircraft. So there are inaccuracies to it. But if that kind of thing doesn’t ruffle your feathers, then it is a nice kit.
Thank you fot the link my friend, much appreciated. I know there are a lot of inaccuracies with this particular kit but as of right now, it’s the only game in town…
I know OEZ(reboxed Kopro) had both a single and two seater variant but I have seen em in person and they are very crude.
I’ll see what I can do with this kit… Flaws or no flaws, the Frogfoot shall come alive!! Lol
Thanks again

I finished this kit at the end of last year. You are right, she is a gem. Make sure you leave off the two small probes on the side of the nose, those are not on production aircraft. As far as decals go, Superscale made a set many years back, as did a company out of eastern Europe (whose name escapes me at the moment). With the re issue of this kit, hopefully some more markings will be re issued as well. I believe the ejection seeat is the K-36 model of which there are several choices in resin available.
Mike, we’ve got a few of the K-36 boom chairs at my LHS. They’re from True Details, and they look fairly nice.
I see you like to buy alot, but now its time to build.[;)]
Today I picked up both the In Action and the Concord publication on the Su-25 so I am armed and ready!!
Yea Stikpusher, I noticed that right off the bat… I also noticed the placement of certain antennas and the chaff, flare dispencers on the later block 25s… I am thinking later block variant…
The decals that Superscale made are those of the Czech a/c with the nose art which is rather eye catching… Still up in the air about colour scheme… I may want her made up in the air to mud role… We shall see
Plus I will be looking into the the AM stuff on the site that arki supplied… Again much appreciated for the link…
Haha your funny Drew… One can never have to many models… Besides two models are headed out your way very soon[;)]

The Czech decals are of a nice camo bird with a lovely curvacious lady for nose art. I made mine in the “standard” (as in no standard pattern) Soviet Frogfoot in the four color European camo.
Go to the Eduard website www.eduard.cz and put Su-25 Frogfoot in the search box. They have several PE sets for the Frogfoot in 1/48 that could be of use to you.
Additionally, before Kopro got out of the plastic kit business, they made a few decal sheets including ones to cover service stenciling on the Su-25. They may be hard to find now though. If you’d like, I can Check out my LHSs this week to see if those stencil decals are still around and pick up a set for you. PM me if you’re interested.
I also have an Su-25 in my backyard (so to speak) at my local technical museum. Here’s a bit of a walkaround I did of it and another preserved example I saw at an airshow a few years ago:
http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/kevan_vogler/su-25k_frogfoot/index.php?Page=1
As you can see from the pictures, it’s a fairly well stenciled up bird, you can’t usually tell from pictures though as the stencils don’t contrast much with the surrounding colours.
As for resin; you can order this cockpit by Pavla straight from the manufacturer:
http://www.pavlamodels.cz/katalogy/detail.php?k=cockpits&c=C48002&styl=styly.css
It will probably cost you less than the NeOmega set but will still look the part when painted up well.
Wow UN, thank you for the info and the walkaround… I have both the “In Action” and the concord book and wow there looks to be sublte differences between the early and later blocks… The Chaff/Flare dispencers being the most to stand out…
PM inbound

I’d recommend you also try to put your hands on the 4+ book about the SU-25. It’s a got a very good run down of the differences between the variants and plenty of good reference pictures.
Here’s an additional picture of a Czech Su-25. This one preserved at the Kbely museum in Prague:

I don’t know if you saw this walkaround of the Kbely Su-25. It’s not mine, but it’s on the Prime Portal site along with mine:

Here’s a link to a build article of the Monogram kit. the builder built the same particular aircraft you intend to and there’s something of a run down of changes to be made:
http://ipms-mckinstry.org/kitreviews/Archives/2005/Nov/SU-25%20Frogfoot%20%20148th%20scale.htm
I bought the model about a year ago off bay for more money than whats being sold now. I think this is a real nice model to build. I am not done with it because I have had other things to do. Just touch up a little and paint and I will be done. What model is 100% accurate nowadays anyway. With a couple of pieces of of styrene it will become a better model. The two big changes are the inner pylons and the weapons. Buy aftermarket weapons.
Go here:http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/. Then go to the Gallery, Jets and look up the SU25. It has some Monogram Su25s
Here is the one I completed late last year

UN,
Thank you for the update pix of the 25 and the additional links… Much appreciated
I will have to definitely check out your link Capt Morgan!!
Stikpusher,
Wow, that is a a sweet build my friend… Do you have any more pix of your build, pit & undercarriage?
Question on the camo… I can tell it was free hand but did you use any aid like silly putty to get the tight yet soft lines?
Overall build is rock solid and congrats on the hardware!!

Thanks Butz, Yes I do have pics of some of those areas, I will take a look see and try to get them posted for ya. The undercarriage I had to rebuild after a fall broke off one of the main gears and the nosewheel during construction. I only saved this kit with brass trip and rod. It nearly flew in to a wall after that fall.
I do most of may camo freehand unless it is supposed to be hard edge, then I will mask with either Tamiya tape or Testors parafilm. In this case I did a freehand job using Aeromaster acrylic colors with my trusty old Badger 350. I went back and touched up any overspray to tighten up the feathering of the colors.
Not thinking this kit had a chance of being re-released any time soon, I had to resort to building this guy about a year ago (Revell, but 1/72…not my usual).

How funny Butz, I just picked this guy up today. Now I come on here to see this thread…
