O.K. heres the thing. I’m building the Acadamy mid production version with interior tiger. I don’t like the decals and the camo. So I’m thinking of doing this desert color camo, like the ones that they had on the eastern front in 1944. What would be the appropriate decals for that kind of tiger. I’m not doing the zimm because I saw a lot of tigers on the eastern front without the zimm.
So help me out tiger maniacs. This is my second tiger and I’m trying to be as accurate as possible. Man this model sure does take a lot of time to make!
Thanks.[:)]
The original order for Panzers to be zimmed was 12/43 and the order to stop was 9/44. Might want to check the build date of any tiger you do.
Archer makes some Tiger decals http://www.archertransfers.com/GermanAFV.html
and Techmod does as well their sheet is number 35006.
The problem is that I seen a lot of photos on the eastern front dated summer 1943, that didn’t have zimm on them. I want to fine the perfect decals for a tiger without zimm. Thanks for the link.
those in summer of 43 might be Early Tigers. I am working on das Reich Tiger from July of 43, but it was an early variant. What you need is for one of the experts here to tell you when the “middle” variants were produced/used. Once you get that, you’ll know whether the middle production is appropriate for that time frame
What you are probably seeing is Early production tigers. Most likely all mid pros had Zim. Im not sure about the decals, what decals are in it? Is it the kit with something like S24?
S24 is an Early das Reich Tiger, no zimm
Well lets see
the decals include the folowing,
505th heavy tank battalion, 1944. Russia march 1944 The decals have the numbers 232
3rd SS Panzer Division 1944, Russia, June 1944 the decals include the numbers 313
and
101st Heavy Tank battalion
1944, Normandy, France June 1944. The decals include 323
Then there are small decals. Probably the diff battalions markings. 2 of them are like a bull running, and 2 of them is of 2 keys in a frame.
I’m just describing what they look like.
The problem is that I don’t know if those are the right decals, and if the battalions are true. I want to make my Tiger pretty accurate.
Thanks
