I didn’t think E-4’s carried drop tanks (thought that’s one of the improvements that came with the E-7), and I’m contemplating stealing the superior tank from the Dragon E-4 and use it on my Eduard. Just want to make sure I’m not stealing someting I’ll need later…
Ditto the “No” from the Feldmarschall… The Emil-4 had about 5-8 minutes of full throttle combat power over the Southern targets… And of that time, about half would be needed to escape pursuing Spitfires…
Ditto again, no drop tanks on the E-4. Though there was an E-4/Jabo, fitted with a bomb on the centre line, but i am sure these were after the BoB as well.
Yeah, it was the BoB tht convinced the Germans about the Emil’s lack of range… The Emil-7 was the first variant fitted with the plumbing and a mount for a drop tank, but it came too late for the BoB…
I think that by the time they really got it figured out and were shipping the tanks to the squadrons, the Fredrich’s were coming into more widespread service and the Es were headed to the Fliegerschule as “Advanced Trainers” and to the German’s Allies…
