Question for Resident Tiger/WW II Experts

Does anyone know who was commanding Early Tiger 323, Pz.Abt.Kummersdorf of Pz.Div. Müncheberg, Berlin, May 1945? Not much info on the web regarding this division.

Thanks

That would be SS-Hauptscharführer Hermann Barkhausen.

Thank you Kykeon.

You wouldn’t happen to have any info (turret number, camo scheme, pics) on Albert Kerscher’s Early Tiger, would you?

Thanks again

I doubt I have anything on Kerscher’s early Tiger that you don’t already know, if there is more info available about him, I don’t have it. An early Tiger, zimmerited, overall dark yellow, tactical number 213…that’s what I have. [sigh]

Since it’s already here and it’d be pointless to start another thread just to ask the same question, hope you don’t mind if I hijack for a single response. I have Tamiya’s 1:48 scale Initial Production Afrika Corp Tiger 1, and it has Turret number 731. Would love to put it on a nice simple base with some sand, along with a plaque of the commander and the division in which it belongs.

Michael

Thanks Kykeon. I didn’t have the info that his early Tiger had zimmerit. Just going off of the Tamiya instructions…lesson learned…

Michael-take it away-it’s all yours. And good luck.

Tiger 731, was formerly of the 1st company of sPzAbt. 501, then transferred to the 7th company of the panzer regiment of the 10th Panzer Division. According to page 29 of Tiger I on the Western Front, it was painted in overall green-brown (RAL 8000), according to page 371 of The 10th Panzer Division, it was painted overall RAL 7008. Note that both of these books are written by the same author, yet he assigned them different paint schemes!

I can’t seem to find the crew of this vehicle at the moment, I’ll look some more a bit later.

Heh, a little late to repaint it LOL. I already have the lower hull painted and some weathering as well as the nicely weathered tracks installed on one side, and I secured them down to each road wheel, as well as gluing each road wheel to the axle. LOL. It’s gonna have to stay dunkergelb. I’ll have enough dust on it maybe it won’t be noticed. Appreciate the info Kykeon. I just figure I might as well replicate whats on the box then trying to track down a bunch stuff I have no clue about.
