question for mach12003 about trans am

hey man i was lookin at you photo gallery and saw your trans am. i just started mine and was wondering if you remember what brand and color you sprayed the interior with. and is that the revell kit, or the one based on that movie? thanks- mark. [:p]

This is the AMT/Ertl kit but before the “Smokey and the Bandit” box art. I’ll warn you that this kit takes a lot of work. Poor fitment of the parts. The decal stripes that are all over the car are very wide. I sliced all of mine length wise with a razor blade and they are still too thick but look better than they would have. In the end, I treated it like a curbside and glued the hood shut… overall though, now that it’s done it looks okay in my cabinet. The body was painted with Duplicolor auto paint and I mistakingly used black metalic instead of solid black but didn’t want to redo it.

Getting to your actual question, sorry for getting side tracked, the interior is done with Tamiya Spray TS-46 Light Sand.

He is right about the buid of the kit. It was one the worst fitting kits I have done. It is a big challenge of a kit , but if you put in alot of work it can be a great looking car too.

good thing i got the revell kit then! its the 3’in’1 version… i am never really satisfied with amt-ertl, i just built a 72 lt1 vette by them. it turned out good but the kit was poor quality. thanks for the info!
