Being another Land Rover enthousiast, do you know of any other kits besides the Italeri and Tamiya pink panther?
Oh, by the way… Does this look familiar?
On a different note, my 109 got failed on the 22nd… Reasons:
No reflectors on the back
Rusted rear X-member
One headlamp shining at satellites
CO emissions too high…
Papers didn’t match (some squaddie made a typo on the certificate of origin. I wouldn’t mind, but it was in the chassis number. All sorted now though…)
Next test is the 5th of september.
There’s a local model car specialist near me, but they claim there isn’t anything. Strange, really, because Land Rover is one of the oldest 4x4 manufacturors in the world, selling to every country in the world, save 3…
Michaelvk and Gregers, Have y’all seen the new Accurate Armor Rovers? I know, a bit pricey but I think I’m going to have to get one of them!! All the write ups have been positive on them too.
ok, seeing as I have found the “experts”, I am wondering if there is anything I should know about the TAmiya pink panther? I am preparing to build it soon. (need PE)
Well… Just that not many came back… And not all were pink. Some were standard deep bronze green, as the SAS also operated in the far east.
On the rear there is a wooden board over the bumperettes. This is where the crew kept their personal belongings. Its supposed to be loaded with fuel tanks, because they’re actually classed as a long range desert patrol vehicle. There are two tanks under the driver and passenger seats, and a huge long range tank behind them.
I have an article or two on the pink panthers. If you want I can scan and email you them.
no thats ok, michaelvk. I have lots of info on SAS landrovers. (leftover bookmarked SAS websites from a school project on the SAS and LRDG this year) thanks anyways!!! [:)]
I think revell (injection) and Accurate Armour (resin) have got Land Rovers as well. Recently I’ve seen the master of an outstanding resin Defender 90 from Historica Productions (from Italy).
