question for german gun expert!!! 1/16 Imai elefant

As shown on my website, I am curretn converting 2 Imai elefant. I found the muzzle brake is too big for the elefant. so my question is is the elefant gun muzzle brake is same size as tiger 1 or king tiger?

how long from the tip of muzzle brake to the shield, any measurement will help.

(edit by JH: Please don’t make the text HUGE and RED. It’s really annoying.)

who has elefant, tiger 1 and king tiger in his collection? could you measure the size of elefant muzzle is similar to tiger1 or king tiger, please? thanks, tom

Asking people to measure models adds an extra layer of possible mistakes, don’t you think? Perhaps you should inquire if the ACTUAL muzzle brake on the Kwk 43 L/42 of the Elefant/Ferdinand was similar to either the Tiger I or TIger II. The fact is that the Tiger II had the Kwk 43 L/41 – very similar, perhaps exactly the same (I’m not sure).

You’re safe to use the brake from the Tiger II, I’d say.

Good luck to you (and I agree with Jeff: don’t do the loud, large and red fonts)

thank you. I could not find any mearurement on those muzzle brakes.

I have tiger1 and king tiger 1/16, tiger1’s muzzle brake is bigger than Kingtigers, is there any reason?

the IMai elefant’s muzzle brake is too big by visual.

could any body who has those tanks in 1/35 scale just visually tell me elefant muzzle brake is simmilar to kt or tiger?

thanks,tom

The muzzle on the first runs of the Tiger Is was larger. Near the middle of their production cycle, the smaller brake (like the Tiger II) was applied. This is because the Tiger I’s cannon was different than the later Tiger II. To ease production, the smaller brake designed for the Tiger II was then used for both the Tiger I and TIger II.

However in 1/16, the Tamiya TIger I makes the larger, earlier one.

The muzzle brake on the 1/35 Tiger II kits is similar to the Elefant ones.

Also, the 1/16 Tiger II by Tamiya could be used for your 1/16 Elefant

Coincidently, Tamiya (yes, Tamiya) will be auctioning off a single Imai 1/16 Elefant at the Shizuoka Modeller’s Flea Market next weekend (Feb. 4-5). I’ll be there, but I won’t be bidding…I wonder how much it’ll go for?

One of my clubmembers has two of them. He says the detail and accuracy is overall pretty good, but the whole thing is a little too short in length.

What’s your take, Tom?

Thank you T26e4 for the info

Brian,

if you can provide the measurement of real elefant, I will measure mine and see if it is accurate or not.

the details on this tank is super, super super. very very good. but I have some trouble understand suspension arm. I still puzzled. can anyone explain how elefant suspesion work?

thanks,tom
