Question for Aztek 470 users

Since I picked up my 470 in February, I’ve found that I love using the adjustment wheel. More often than not I end up using it more like a single action airbrush, dialing in the paint flow and then just controlling the flow by pushing down to control the air. I’ve found it’s really opened up a whole new world of things I can do.

Any others use that wheel a lot?

I never used it when I had my aztek. Turth be told, it just confused me and got in my way LOL.

But then again, I never liked my aztek much in the first place, so I might be biased.

John, that’s called fixed double action. It’s great for detail jobs or small paint jobs.

E

Is that what it’s called? Cool. I’da given it a cooler name, liker “Super Cool Useful Action”. (Or if Gunze put it out, it would be “Mr. Super Cool Useful Action”.) [:D] LOL. It is handy!

So…um…is your question asking what the adjustment wheel is called, or do we use it a lot?

Personally, I love it. I dial in the spray pattern that I like, then use it as a single action airbrush. I find that I have far more control this way.

it started just wondering about usage, but it wandered into it’s name too. It’s all good!

Sounds like you use it just like I do. It really is great. [:D]

I’m not surprised that you find it easier to use in single action mode. I have (but no longer use) an A430 which is the double action only version of the A470, and never really got the hang of the dual action trigger. Later on I got a Badger 200 NH and a Paasche H, both single action airbrushes, and found airbrushing with single action to be a lot easier than dual action.

I used to use the wheel as you describe untill yesterday when my 470 died. Iwata HP-B plus was orderd last night.

I use it that way too. I use it as a single action for large areas & future applications, but even with smaller areas the ability to dial the amount you need is very nice. I use the dual action for fading exhaust stains or painting those German line camo’s.

How’d it die Tecs?

Sorry to hear that happened. I have a good friend who uses an Iwata, and he loves it. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it! Love to hear your thoughts on it versus the Aztek.

I managed to tread on it and the case popped apart, I think something broke as now all it does is let air escape from the body of the brush.

Ah, that’ll do it.

Reason I asked was I wondered if was a usage problem. LOL Didn’t think about the “ooops” factor!
