Question about Tamiya's Do 335

Hey, gang:

The positive reviews in the “Shake ‘n’ Bake” thread got me thinking about buying this kit. Looks relatively easy to build and might be a good candidate for my first weathering attempt.

I notice there’s a regular and “heavily armed” version. Is this version as good as the “regular” variant?

Thanks!

PB

Yes, basically it’s the regular with added weapons and armor. I’ve only built the regular, which was a flawless kit.

Thanks! Apparently the heavy armor version has been discontinued. :frowning: Guess I’ll have to hit Evilbay…

I just finished the Heavy Armed one a while back and it did got together superbly EXCEPT… The spine that converts it from the trainer one… Its difficult to fit it without loosing the raised rivets around it… I ended up filling / rescribing and adding flush rivets…

Wow, the trainer is even uglier! I might have to get that one instead.

Ah, you like the ugly birds as well, do ya!

I do! Especially if said ugly plane can also blow up tanks re: A-10, Stuka, etc.

Sure, modern fighters are all low angles and sleek and look fast just sitting on the tarmac, but give me big bumps, long noses, and awkward seagull wings any day. Sorta like how I’m built.

PS–Sprue Bros. had one Tamiya Trainer left in stock, so I nabbed it.
