OK ATTENTION ROTOR HEADS OF THE WORLD,
WHY HASN’T ANY MODEL COMPANY DONE AN S76.
Sikorsky. . .?
Is that the little thing that wanted to be a Coast Guard Helo, but pulled out of the competition becuase of the FIA? (like the Bell 222?)
I would guess no one has a model of it becuase it isn’t considered “cool.”
I did not say it wasn’t cool, I said it isn’t considered cool.
Don
They haven’t done an S-76 because there were no guns or Shark teeth versions! It’s just a plain Jane workhorse of the Gulf of Mexico. I fly on one every week back and forth to work in the Gulf of Mexico. The S-76 is a “little brother” to the UH-60 Black Hawk. If “Airwolf” would have been an S-76 we would have a kit of it! Civilian choppers are not “marketable” it seems!
WELL MEL ,THAT MUST BE P.H.I DOING THAT TRANSPORTING.
I LIVED IN MANDERVILLE,LA FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS WHILE I WORKED ON AL COPLAND’S RACE TEAM. MR COPELAND OWNED A AGUSTA 109 CALLED THE CHICKEN CHOPER.THE TEAM GOT TO FLY IN IT ALL THE TIME.
THERE IS A MILITARY VERSION CALLED THE H 76EAGLE.NOT REAL POPULAR . I THINK THE PHILIPINES BOUGHT SOME. ALSO THERE IS A 222 OUT THERE IN MODEL LAND,IN 1/48 SCALE.THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT MEL
DAVE
Dave,
Actually it’s one of Chevron’s own aircraft. ChevronTexaco now! We also use Air Logistic’s sometimes. PHI I’m still pissed at for making me miss the IPMS Nationals in Dallas a couple summers ago. It had an engine failure on the way out to get me the last flight of the day and I didn’t make it home to go with the guys! At least the other engine brought it back for a safe “rolling” landing! Several of my Pilot buddies fly the S-76 for PHI.
MEL
THANK GOD FOR TWIN ENGINES,RIGHT!!! I
I THINK I HAVE A PHOTO OF A CHEVRON 76 SOME WHERE.
I AM BIAS TOWARDS SIKORSKY AIRCRAFT,I GREW UP IN STRATFORD CT.
THAT’S WHERE THE PLANT IS.MY OLDER BROTHER HAS WORKED THERE FOR 17 YEARS,SO I GET TO SEE ALOT OF PROPAGANDA .AS A KID I WOULD SEE IGOR SIKORSKY WALKING AROUND BRIDGEPORT( SHOPPING) THE GUY WAS CRAZY,HE WOULD TEST FLY HIS PROTO TYPE AIRCRAFTAND HE DID CRASH A COUPLE OF TIMES,THANKS FOR REPLY MEL
DAVE
.
If I recall, the S76 rec’d the bifilar system designed for the main rotor of the S-70 (Black Hawk) series a/c. Sikorsky wanted to put some of this new technoligy into the civil market and the S-76 was the first.

I gotta say it… Davey, you’re cool, but PLEASE hit that caps-lock button! Internet protocol says that “all caps” is shouting. BTW, the S-76 is cool, too. It would make a decent kit.
FITTER out [:D]
yes the Phillipines have the S-76, unfortunately only few are flying and primarly use for SAR.

Sorry I’m half blind ,waiting for new glasses. A friend of mine and myself
have begun a 1/32 scratch S76. So far so good.

Half blind and working on a 32nd Helo? I guess that’s why they call 32nd “Braille Scale”! [:p] (Joke!)
All Hail the Jeezuz Nut!
