Has anyone tried to use “Blacken-It” on Karaya metal tracks? I ask because the “Blacken-It” bottle says it doesn’t work with Aluminum, and Karaya tracks are a Zinc-Aluminum alloy. Has anyone tried it, and with what success? I was planning on soaking the tracks in vinegar for at least a day or two before trying the Blacken-It. Thanks!
My guess is if you already have the blacken it try it on a single piece.

Please let me know how it goes - I have one set each Friul and Karaya and want to blacken both
I’ve got a set ordered at GreatModels. When they do arrive I’m willing to try ‘Blacken-it’ on one link to see what happens.

If that does not work, try antiquing fluid. It “ages” most any metal.
and if none of those work, put the tracks into a box in the attick and come back to it in 20 years [:)]
I would recommend Pacific Coast Models–Karaya tracks are the same price, and not a “Special Order”–they are “in stock”. I often find Great Model’s tendency to call anything they list but almost never actually carry a “special order” quite annoying. Just a suggestion…
