I bought the Testors decal kit and made some decals from it, but now I have some Experts choice decal paper (it’s 8 1/2" x 11" instead of the weird size Testors paper), and I do have the micro scale decal film.
My question is can I use the Testor’s decal film in the spray can or do I need to stick with the micro scale and brush it on or break out the air brush to spray it? It says you can brush or spray but I don’t want to mess up the decals just through laziness, I have so many better ways to mess them up and work at it [:)] .
Either the Testors or the MicroScale should work. I have a friend that makes his own decals for his model railroad and he uses an artists fixative that he gets at an art supply store. Comes in gloss, semi-gloss (“eggshell”) and flat. I’m not sure that I would brush the coating on though, 'cause that seems to me to be a recipe for disaster. I think I would bite the bullet and make up one full sheet of decals and use that as a test bed for the different types of coatings and see which works better, brushing or spraying.
