I going to do my first bare metal finish and I’m a little nervous. I was brainstorming and thought I could use Future to seal the bare plastic to hide any seam imperfections from sanding. Will this work and is it a good idea? or is there a better approach? thanks.
A good primer would be better than using Future on bare plastic. The primer will show up any seams that may require filling & sanding. Future by itself wont fill seams. I use Alclad2 over primer & think it gives the best BMF available.

Just be careful about mixing paint types. If you use a laquer such as Testor’s Metallizer over an enamel primer you’ll get an ugly reaction.
I think your question is more about surface prep than paint. This subject has been discussed (ad nauseum) in the forum and there is a huge amount of advice if you do a search. What I can tell you is that what ever you use, imperfections will be ten times more noticeable on an NMF finish. That being said, it is not impossible to attain acceptable results. This was my first attempt. I used NO primer at all, and filled and sanded as usual.

Just go for it, research the forums for tips, you’ll probably suprise yourself.
Happy NMFing!
