Quest for B-25B Mitchell - Doolittle Raider decals

Long ago, when I was a kid (around 1970), I built a B-25B Mitchell “Doolittle Raider” plane by Revell (1:48 scale). I never got the decals on, and of course, lost them somewhere over the years.

I’m now wanting to finish this plane but having a heck of a time finding the right decals for this model. Most of the after-market brands I’ve seen (Microscale, Aeromaster, etc) are for later versions of the B-25’s, which don’t have the right markings. For example, they have the “stars-and-bars” USA insignia instead of the round with red dot in center.

I haven’t tried contacting Revell, but I doubt they sell decal sets for ancient models like this. I’ve seen this exact boxed model for sale on eBay (circa late 60’s/ early 70’s) but I hate to buy a whole model just to get the right decals.

Can anyone point me to the right resouce for either original replacement Revell decals for this model or else a reasonably accurate aftermarket replacement?

TIA,

Phil

I think Accurate Miniatures put out a 1/48th kit of the B-25B with the decals for the Doolittle Raid in it. By the way,[#welcome] to the forums.

Sorry to say I can not help you with that, BUT [#welcome] to the forums…

Bud

Looks like a great kit too. I’ve picked it up twice and put it back down. Next time it may have to come home with me and join the other AM kits in my stash [:D]

Welcome Phil! [#welcome]

Squadron has 1918-1942 stars in 1/48th. They probably have the yellow serial numbers also. Do some research on the particular plane you want to do and want serial number it was. I believe that most of the planes were plain with no names, but the experts can check in. I remember only about “The Ruptured Duck” after reading the book, “30 Seconds Over Tokyo”.

I’ve got the accurate miniatures set, which has decals for all 16 a/c. If you can’t find any other sources (I was planning on using some of the decals, but I can still send you them if you really need them), I can send you mine. I think it’s missing the instrument panel decal, but everything else is fine. Let me know if you need them!

Wow, thank you for your kind offer, Josh.

I will email you about this.

Sure glad I joined the forum here at finescale!
