finally got this one painted up and weathered, i had a good time with it and i am quite happy with the finished deal it looks really nice on the shelf and for the old mirage kit i think it fixed up quite well, the tool handles are not cured so are still a bit shiney but they will dull in a day or two and the wheels are not fully cured either i will get some of shots of them in a couple of days but everything else is finished.
As usual, outstanding!..Looks perfectly weathered and dusty, as if it has been tooling along on the Eastern front’s dusty roads…is the jack-block real wood? Is the star antennae scratch built?
Great job. Good to see this one finished. I appreciate the fact that your builds demonstrate that not the best detailed nor moulded kits can still be built into spectacular pieces through some painting and weathering skills.
Dang. Biffa’s Tank Factory (BTF, for short) scores again! [tup][tup]
Another really nice one to add to the collection. Any chance we can SEE the collection? Even just a panned back shot would be pretty cool. Must be some serious volume by this point! [:D]
Nice one as usual Ron. It fixed up well but if I may, the kit looks softish ( I know its not a real word) maybe not as sharp as what we have come to expect nowadays. Cool build all the same.
Regards,
Terry.
P.s. It must haave taken some extra work to bring it up to sratch.
Thanks guys as alway your comments are appreciated its been mentioned that this kit is lacking a little by todays high standards but in the end i was happy with the result here is a link to the build up thread for those who missed it, it shows how much of the spares box went on this little beast heh.

Hi tellis yes this was a recon vehicle and quite looks the part as well
Manny the jack block is basswood and the star part of the antenna was provided as PE in the kit the rest of it came from a spare dragon one
Dupes i have tried to photo the display cabinets but the pics are always crappy i will keep trying, my entire built collection is behind glass now since i aquired a second display case i think the collection stands at around ninety vehicles
Hi Terry thanks for the comments you are correct the kit is a little lacking i think the pics make it look a little softer also than it is check the link above for the unpainted build
Thank you all again for taking the time to comment [:)]
Yeah, remember that one Ron. I can barely remember seeing the kit many moons ago. I remember also owning the Accurate Armour resin kit when it came out in the late 80’s, its as you say a pure recon vehicle but its also a little beauty. I think I would stand back from this subject myself for the moment as I just don’t want to pay the price for the Tasca kit.
Thanks again chaps glad this one measured up, Doog trying something new i took plain wood then primed it red oxide then sanded it along the grain leaving it stained looking then a couple of washes later i kinda liked the look of it so i left it at that, Hi Steve no need to say much just a thumbs up or down to let me know im moving in the right direction heh seriously i do appreciate your feedback.
Heres a couple of shots of the finished running gear as promised this one is now on the shelf.
Wow, looks great. Looks like you added some dried dirt/mud–is that a wash w/ some pigments added? The tactical number is one of those rare 4-digit ones that were designed to confuse the enemy…most of them were reserved for regimental HQ vehicles…cool! [tup][tup]
