PTO Sherman-burnt out...almost done

In this photo it does not show the bogies being covered (perhaps because they are working on the track) but it gives you an idea baout the wooden plank “armor” used on Shermans:

Brian <----not even an expert Shermanholic, but learning all kinds of neat things!

Nails and screens were mounted on hatches to protect against grenades and satchel charges.

The wood planking was to protect against anti tank mines that were similar to the Panzerfaust. The Japenese mounted them on a pole and charged the tanks from the side in an attack.

The wood on the side of the hull was backed by a layer of concrete to defeat the mine’s hot jet.

The Monroe effect for all you ordnance folks [:D]

Just seeing this for the first time all I can say is WOW! Nice work as always there Rob. See you in Chicopee[:D]

Thanks guys glad this is to your liking. Wayne thanks for the info, good to know.

Been trying to get this guy done for this weekends show, looks like I might make it.

No tracks for this guy. I wanted to use the kit tracks but they are the wrong ones. The tracks were too tight anyway, broke the idler arms trying to test fit them.

Base is just about done, nothing fancy. I’ll post pics soon.

Pretty darn nice Rob. I have a hard time keeping the plastic looking like plastic. you make it looks like rotten steel.

A real nice and messy sherman there rob. Good job.

Thanks guys for the support and kind feedback on this build, even though it was a quick build.

I finished this guy just in time for tomorrows show. Here are a couple of pics for your viewing pleasure.

Thanks for looking and see some of you guys tomorrow.
