PT Boats: Knights of the Sea

Hello,

My sister gave me PT Boats: Knights of the Sea for PC for my 50th birthday last week. I’ve got to tell you, it is an amazing game. I had to have a video card installed before I could use the game.

I am amazed at the quality of the graphics in the game. MTB-59 and 60, the two I’ve commanded so far, seem to be accurate depictions of the class(es) they represent, the S-26s I’ve encountered are excellent too. I’m looking forward to play other missions so that I can command a Fairmile “Dogboat” or the Soviet 80 foot Elco, … I always wanted to command a 80 footer …

The Liberty Ship that I had to escort in seemed to had been very accurate. I wonder if the software people visited the JOHN W.BROWN.

The only complaint that I may have … is that there are no US PT boats or Pacific based missions - just the English Channel and the North Sea …

But, still, it’s an excellent game and I highly recommend it.

Can you describe the basic game play? I’m having a hard time trying to figure out how it would work, I would imagine somewhat like asub game where you can move between stations but PT boats move fast, more like a fighter sim, but then you wouldn’t really be able to run all the guns and such.

I googled the game but didn’t find anything explaining how the game actually operates. I’m assuming from the screen shots it is basically a first person shooter style game like the various sub and aircraft simulators, not a turn based strategy game.

Sounds interesting though.

Aaron,

I’m not sure I can describe the game play that well, … but …

You can toggle through various crew stations, helm, bow gunner, aft gunner and toggle through different viewing angles too, above and behind, from the helm, or from either gun position …

If your boat’s damaged, you can have the crew make repairs …

The more I use it, the more I like it.
