I recently completed my 68 vw by revell as a gift to my wife. She was driving one when we got married. painted the model in the same colors, British racing green with tan interior .
The Revell kit goes together very easy, and looks good when you are done. I haven’t built a car kit since I was a teenager and this one looks almost like I know what I am doing.
So proud of it, I took it to my local ipms meeting to show off. when I got it home it went back on the shelf in her office. the next day I passed by and glanced at it. something was wrong. the rear windshield was missing.
A week and a half ago, I submitted a request online to Revell for a replacement windshield and was told to expect a reply in six weeks.
Never heard a word until today when the replacement showed up in the mail.
Yes that’s true - they do! I even ordered extra parts from them that I later used to modify/kitbash stuff. Once I ordered parts and they didn’t come for months - so I called them in Germany and I have spoken to a nice lady that explained to me each year after Christmas they get swamped with requests for parts and it usually takes them about three months to work that surge off. So if you happen to lose your parts in January or February, please have a little extra patience, it should pay off! Have a nice day
Revell is usually pretty good about supplying replacements at no charge. Other companies can vary in their policy. But no matter who I have dealt with, either at no charge, or having to pay for the item, I’ve always gotten it. Have not dealt with any of the Chinese companies yet though.
I have also had great service from Revells German branch. 3 of the a/a guns on my Prinz Eugen cruiser were badly molded and missing barrels. They sent me 6 replacements in about a month. I need to contact them again as my latest purchase of thier new halifax bomber came with the cockpit control panel snapped in two.
I remember not building the Academy 1/72 B-17 because it was missing the whole section. I was 12-13 back then and didn’t know what to do with it. Not sure what happened to it, I still have most of the box arts and unbuilt kits from my childhood but don’t have that B-17 kit.
Viego, After many e-mails to revell, I believe they no longer replace parts. Bummer. Please don’t take this to the bank, but I believe I’m correct. Good luck
