propellers

hello fellows

Im having trouble painting the tips on the end of the propllers I airbrushed the color yellow as told and after dried I placed tape on the edges for the tips, but when I finished airbrushing the flat black and let dried which did come out nice, but when I went to removed the taped it still ran under the tape, what did I do wrong or where did I go wrong,I used small masking tape, should I have used different tape, the tips are very hard to masked off and trying to make sure they are even all the way around prop,so any suggestions would be appreciated thank you

A few things to try.

Reduce the air pressure

Reduce the amount of thinner in the paint and do several very light passes

Make sure you spray away from the edge of tape (Move the a/b angled toward the hub and bring it in towards the hub)

Remove the tape before the paint fully dries

thank’s for the info, I’ll try it next ww II aircraft, and may i ask is there an easier way to place the tape and remove it

After you have masked, but before you apply the next colour, spray on a coat of Future.

This will seal the masking, and prevent paint bleed.

Karl

you mean to airbrush the flat black over the future[?]

Ronald

Yes spray the color of the Future. The idea is to have the Future bleed under the tape, if any bleeding is going to occur, so the edge will be sealed with clear and the black shouldn’t bleed. But as already stated… light coats.

Take your #11 blade and lightly score a demarkation line between the area where the two colors meet. Butt your tape up against that and you shouldn’t have any problems. Of sepage under the tape.

thank’s for the information
