prop motors shaft & painting turbine engines

Hi all:
I was wondering if there is a way to extend the shafts on motors. I’m trying to power a 1/72 B-29 engines. the Shafts don’t fit through the engines. I would like to know how to get this done because I’ve all ready hacked up my B-29 to fit the engines. Thanks.
Also, does any body know how to paint the turbines (jet) engines for an airliner. Here’s how I do mine. I paint the fan blades and the rear of the engine flat black, then high light with silver, and paint a white “turning” stripe on the cones, then silver on the inlet. It looks dull and booring so I want to detail and make the engines stand out. thanks.

Sounds like you’ve done all the detailing for airliner engines that can be done.
As for your B-29, to extend your electric motor shafts you might find some flexible
tubing to use as a coupler and then cement metal rod into the propellors that is the
same diameter as the motor shaft. Any metal rod of the proper diameter will work.

I used brass or aluminum tubing drilled out to fit the shaft of the motors and then drilled the proper size hole in the prop hub. Also used a small coiled spring like those found on bearing oil seals to provide the tension on the rubber seal. This made a great flex shaft.

Thanks for the help. I’ll work on it when I can, but for now I need to finish my fleet of A340s that I have in various building stages. I have one that’s in final assembly all most ready for paint, another thats waiting for the wings, another that needs the two fuselage halfs glued, and one that needs the windows filled. When will it end. I’ve decided I will try to finish building the rest of my models before I buy any more. Yeah, Right, and I’ve got a Mossie parked out back behind my house!
