Promodellers wash

Has anyone on this side of the pond actually used this product with success? I would love to hear from anyone on this subject before I invest money on an unknown quantity.

I’ll throw my two cents in: Works great! Ordered mine through Sprue Brothers. It’s a good product to have.

I’ll second that. I really enjoy using mine. [:D]

After watching the demo vids I can see where useing this product on aircraft would work out nicely but for tanks i’m not so sure. You apply this wash, let it dry and then wipe off the excess to achive the desired effect. In the videos the aircraft and the tank models had no parts or pieces installed and you could just rub to your hearts content but what do you do when you’ve got PE and other kit parts already in place?

Just wondering

I don’t get it… Washing is a technique used to add depth to detail and to a lesser extent, add stains and spills…

Somebody sells tinted thinner? Moreoever, somebody actually buys the stuff? Sheesh…

Hans, it’s not “tinted thinner”. It’s a special concoction of clay, oddly enough. The basic mixture, from what I can tell, consists of the clay, water, and a little bit of soap maybe. The best part is you can let it sit on the model forever before you clean up the excess. It’s also non-toxic, which can be a very desireable attribute.

Ahh, gotcha… It’s wet pastels…

Way to over simplify things once again. We don’t all have 18+ hours a day dedicated to modeling. If something makes it easier, why do you care? If you can give me a formula to replicate Promodeller/Mig/Warpigs washes, I’m all ears.

I’m sure all those concotions can be duplicated given enough time. Having said that, I’m not a 12 year old with nothing but time. I am 41 with a wife, 3 kids, a mortgage, and all that goes with it. My time at the bench is limited.

Not everyone goes through all this work only to tear it down after a few months and chuck it all into a box.

I am pretty sure that you are a scratch-builiding expert. Howz about you post a technique or 3 instead of constintley knocking people who spend their money how they see fit to?

I know you will respond with some variation about how you don’t care how folks spend their money and then proceed to blast the same people.

At least you pick your battles. Doog, Wbill, or Manny can post a WIP showing all the A/M parts they used and you never say anything. Let a relative newby post the same and you are all over it.

Mike, I have said before that you are one of my favorite posters, however, the same line gets a little tedious and tiresome.

Jeff
