project started: A7- P

Hello!

I´m starting with a new proj., included in a GB.

Turn this into a A7-P (an A-7A with the engine of an A-7B and most of the avionics of an A-7E.)
Now it only lacks know how on working in Resin and Photo etched parts.
here are some pics of the material:[oops]

i´ll be posting progress pics.

the goal is to depict this bird:

looks like it’s going to be a great looking aircraft when you’re done! I really like the tail markings; that’ll definitely set it apart from other A-7’s. Can’t wait to see progress pics, and good luck!

Okay, dumb question but I have to ask it. From what you said, an A-7P is basically a A-7A with an A-7B engine and an A-7E avionics, then why don’t you just get a kit of a A-7A and do that one with the markings you have, you can’t tell what engine it has and as far as the avionics there wasn’t much a of a difference on the outside. I take it that you are doing a 1/72 scale. The only real external difference between a A-7A/B and a A-7E is that the A/B’s had the two MK-12 guns on either side and the E had the M61A1 on the Port side, other than that there wasn’t much of a difference between the two that you would be able to pick out in 1/72 scale.

Now the disclaimer, I haven’t worked on a A-7 for about 19 years so if there are some difference time has screwed with my memory and all my books are buried right now. I was in A-7’s from 84-87 (VA-82 A-7E’s).

Jose,

Looks good so far but the seat should be black with dark green cushions, just like the Navy versions.[;)]

definitely looks good for your first time with PE, and the 'pit detail is pretty good too. Keep up the good work!

good luck you have a lot of work ahead

Hello all, and thanks for replying!

Reddog, according to my references, this specific bird had the seat in gray.

Here goes some pics of it, and the tub, lacking a clear coat and some more bits…

Hope you like it!

send feedback!

Hello, and thanks for the feedback!

Wow, its been a long time since we heard about your project! The chaff dispenser looks great, just wish I can understand the language so I’ll know how you did it.

Hello!!!

After seeing some pics , the Chaff/flare dispensers have a square form :frowning:

Without having PE mesh, this is what i came with…

Best regards!

I might be a little late in mentioning this but I was looking at your pictures of making an oxygen hose, it looks good but I was going to sugest for an easier way in the future you should get a pack of guitar strings, I’ve found the wound strings go a good job of it.
