Progress pics -M3Stuart (warning: large photos)

Mabuhay! (greetings!) Here are the progress pics of my nearly finished works.

M3 Stuart ( soon to be a Japanese captured version)
Firstly, I scratchbuilt the tool-mounts at the rear and the cage for the headlamps using soda cans, I also modified some parts especially the drivetrain, I added a small drop of PVA glue to the edges of the spokes in road-wheel and Idler to make it ‘clover-like.’ Currently I’m working on the basket that is attached at the rear.[:)]

Here’s my scratchbuilt fantasy tank using felt pen barrels as cannons and aluminum soda cans for the body, the detail parts are from the old academy bradley and gepard kits! I was inspired by the warhammer40k vehicles and forgeworld’s hydra. I’m planning to do another fantasy tank soon. (groupbuild anyone?[:o)])

As always, thanks to all of you in FSM both gals and guys! especially to those who untiringly replied and shared information/ references. Thanks to Robert the “Shermanfreak” for the PVA glue tips I’ve seen in this forum, it has helped me alot in the many aspects of modeling![:)]

Happy Modeling Everyone! -beans[8]

Great work so far, beans!

I always like seeing members’ works in progress.

nice work pareng beans! so you’re into pc games too?
how about something from command and conquer zero hour? do you play that?

Really nice progress on the M3.
I absolutely LOVE the fantazy tank. I used to be into warmammer quite a bit. Not so much anymore. I’ve always wanted to make a ‘from imagination tank’. Wanted to take an existing chasis and just modify it to heck, or something along those lines anyways.
If you ever plan a GB, I AM IN!!

Thanks Erock, J-hulk!

Garry- I used to be a CC fan, I was hooked when Tiberian Sun came out and CC2 but now I rarely play video games, I just feel like I’m wasting time sometimes. But yes I tried the new one, great graphics! Thanks[:D][8D]

zokissima- Thanks, the chassis of this tank is overturned and chopped from the bradley kit.
That is also how I felt while I planned on building this, fortunately at that time I had quite a lot of parts to fool around with! About the GB I’m thinking …hmm?[:D][:D]

Nice stuff, Beans!

Looking good! keep us posted.

Looks great! Any of those left around Manila? Still need one for my back yard!

Ron

Looking good Beans. Like the coke can additions.

Looks real nice, beans. What do you use to cut and fashion the pop cans?

Great looking Stuart Beans. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us.
mark956

Looks good is that the Academy kit?

Beans:

Really really nice job. Your scratchbuilding skills are very good. The fantasy tank is also cool.

Keep it up.

Looking good Beans … both of them. As already asked, is that the Academy kit and how do you like it?

Keep us posted on your progress please.

Great looking Stuart beans…

Regards, Dan

Thanks Derek, Chris, Mark956, Dwight, Dan

Ron- right now there are none I know of, but I heard there’s an operational halftrack(maybe an M3?) somewhere in Pampanga (Clark Airfield), there are also lots of 6X6 and jeep surplus parts there (recently Japan surplus vehicles and stuff). There are all sorts of stuff here if you look hard enough.
There are some off-road clubs that have nicely restored jeeps from 4x4’s to the 2-1/2ton 6X6 cargo trucks.

Bill- I just use a normal pair of scissors, I first poke a small hole from the side enough to fit the lower blade of the scissors and just cut away. I bend them using regular small pliers.

Michael, Robert- yup! Its Academy’s kit. Well, here’s the negatives, the drivetrain can do a lot more in many aspects, the engine intake is quite high almost a perfect triangle, the antenna mount can do a replacement!, there are no rivets on the rear near the air filters on both sides- just so if you decide to leave the rear fender-boxes off(the reason why I left mine on), the headlamp cages are too thick, no weld seams on the turret sides, and wrong interior! In the plus side you get lots of extra parts, an option for indy or regular tracks. Over-all- I think it would build great even O.O.B. but the faults are quite noticeable so I decided to -not exactly be accurate but to just make them look right. Out of 5 in which 5 is the highest I’ll give it a 3.5 [:D][8D]

Looking Good beans [tup]

thanks Build22!
