Progress on King Tiger

Hi guys

I am making steady progress on my King Tiger. I have the basic kit together and have started adding details. Most of the photoetch is from Eduard but some items are taken from other sets. The fire extinguisher and bracket are from Alhambra. I have a set of Aber fenders but still unsure if I will use them. I installed Fine Molds periscopes in all openings, the barrel is Jordi Rubio. I have cut and prepared the kit exhaust to be replaced with Moskit exhaust. I am still debating on whether or not to use the Greif weathered tow cables and Elefant tow cables and cleaning rods that I have. I decided not to use the Verlinden interior as I am building it buttoned up except for the commander standing in his location. I still need to buy an MG34 set and Model Point has a really nice one. Here are some pics of the build so far.

Pulling out the stops on this KT. Coming along nicely so far. I have the same Osprey book and am helping my son with the same kit. I should have put the pe grilles on, a cardinal sin on my part.

Very nice so far.I’m not a big fan of German WW2 armour but I do have a King Tiger with Porsch turret in my stash as it’s a good looking piece of armour.

Looks nice! Solid looking build. Personally, I don’t feel like I would want the Eduard PE armored bracket over the periscopes – the real ones were quite thick and I think the PE is too thin to scale. Just my opinion.

Can’t wait to see it painted up!

Great work,
Roy

Looks great so far. Can’t wait to see some paint on it.

that is an awesome king tiger… i like it so far

Nice work so far.

Very nice King Tiger build to far, the fittings look effortless’es done. I might do a King after my Panther is down.

nice, clean ,solid looking build man![:)]-- keep posting pics as you go–treadwell[:P]

Thanks guys. This build seems to be just falling together for me. I will post more pics as I go.

I need some advice guys. Ive been sitting here this evening working on the King Tiger and cant decide if I should use the Eduard track hangers or kit track hangers for the turret sides. What would you suggest?

Im guessing that you are talking about PE hangers here, correct ?? Don’t use them, they are way too thin, the kit ones are much more accurate.

I used the kit ones on my Tiger II and made a small weld around the base of the hanger.

Thanks, thats what I needed to know.

wow that looks amazing
