Here are some pics of a 1/72 Revell Lancaster Dambuster I’m working on.
These are pics from some weeks ago, so at this time, I’m much further with my build.
I must say to everyone that wants to build the same kit: it needs a lot of scratchbuilding. I have to scratch the whole interior, wheel bays, add antennas…
So… lots of work !!!
Sounds like you have your work cut out for you! I honestly wouldn’t know how to act if I got a kit now days that didn’t need redecorating to some extent, but it looks like you’re off to a good start! [:)] Will look forward to seeing it come together!
But does somebody know where the “savety kit” decal hs to go on the plane.
The decal is provided in the kit, but the instructions don’t show where it has to come.
Oh yeah, forgot to say…
Maybe somebody thought: what kind of white stuff is it on the fuselage?
Well, it’s putty, because the kit has moulded windows in the fuselage, and they aren’t very accurate, so I deciced to fill them up.
Wow, that’s memory lane for me. I think I built kit maybe thirty years ago, although you’re off to a much better start on yours[:D]. Your flight deck and crew look excellect. Look forward to seeing the finished Lancaster.
Forgive me but I do not think the flight deck was configured in that way - the navigator was behind a curtain and at right angles to the Pilot - not in tandem as appears - also the flight engineer did not have a seat as such but stood by the Pilot. The film portrays this and it is also confirmed by the Book (Enemy Coast Ahead). It is only in the “modern” Lancs - e.g the BoB Flight one that the crew sit thus.
Looks like it’s off to a good start. I love this aircraft. The kit is an apsolute shocker for detail, and the rivets stick up heaps, are you going to sand them back?
I’ve just finished the airfix kit, so i know the scratch building you have ahead of you.
best of luck.
If you want to see a finished one, go to my home page, i think it’s the 2nd or 3rd aircraft down the page.
Well do keep us posted on your progress, it’s great to see someone doing a real british classic.
Cheers,
Alan
I wouldn’t sand them right back, i’d just sand them down a little, to take some of the height off of the rivets…
Up to you.
hope it goes well for you.
Damn, someone noticed that my one suffers from doopy aeilorons… oh well, keeps me down to earth.
