Problem with "Future"

In finishing my big German Leopold Railway Gun by Dragon, I used Tamiya gray acrylic which looked fine on the large “shell”. I then used Future floor polish on the spots where the decals were to go on. I put on the decals on okay and then brushed on another Future coat over them to seal them…Then a day or so later, I used rattlecan Dullcoteto to get an overall flat coat…However, the shiny Future shows through! I put a lot of time in effort in on this huge project. So…

How do I get an overall flat coat and eliminate the shiny spots caused by the Future? Thanks guys…

It’s always better to coat the entire item with Future before applying decals and after if desired. Then, when the Dullcoat is applied, you have a consistent finish to work from.

You could recoat the entire item with Future and Dullcoat…it won’t hurt anything…and the finish should look uniform once again.

I have found that Poly S dullcoat works well. I too have had this problem and it seems that when I coat with future all over the model it becomes a lot less visiable.

Do you guys thin your Future at all, or spray it straight from the bottle?

Straight…no thinning is needed or desirable.

Thanks, Foster and guys…I was wondering if I should Future the entire shell again , not just the spots where the decals go, and then flat-coat, but I wasn’t sure…now I know.

. Seems like that’s the answer to my problem…and finding out I don’t have to thin it is also a big help…Again, thanks from an old WW II infantryman! (I was in Pacific so didn’t have to face any of those German Railway guns like the poor devils at Anzio!)

Glad you got help bill… and thank you for what you did.
