Just put the decals on my Tamiya Beaufighter Mk. VI (kit decals) and applied Walther’s Solvaset Decal Setting Solution. Paint is Tamiya acrylic with a good coating of Future that has set 3 days. Nearly after I put the decal setting solution on the decals, a white filmy mark appeared in some of the areas where I got a bit sloppy with the setting solution.

Any ideas (1) what happened? (2) short of repainting, what I can do to get rid of it?

Let it sit about a day or so then shoot more future over it… It should completely dissapear. This is normal with decal setting solutions over an uncured coat of future. Solvaset is pretty strong so it could possibly react with even mostly cured future. It happens fairly frequently to me as I hate waiting over 6 or so hours to decal after future and I have never had it not clear back up with more future.

Thanks for the info! I’ve sprayed a second coat of Future this evening and already I can see that the hazing is gone. [:)]
I let the initial coat cure for three days before I did the decals last night, but I guess with the high humidity here in SE Texas it didn’t truly cure. Now I have it sitting inside in the air conditioning hoping that will help with the curing process.
I hear ya about the humidity… I live across the city from ya and have the same problems/gripes about it… (Humble area) good luck!!
Solvaset is a little on the strong side and I avoid using it at all. Brand new fresh MicroSol works wonders and doesnt leave as much residue as the alcohol based
agents. I found that on the Tamiya kit decals the trick is using almost-hot water. I have a coffe warmer (now sold in wallie world as a candle wamer of all things)
that I keep my bowl of water on. The water is very warm and this seems to activate the Tamiya decals better than anythign I have found. They become quite pliable
and workable and really settle in on a good gloss coat with just a little help from a wet Qtip.
