I am trying to use Tempera paints as a wash for the first time, the problem I am having is they do not come completely clean… I tried both with dish soap and without, with the soap seems better as I can wipe most of the excess away with a dry Q-Tip HOWEVER, some smudging is left… when I moisten the Q-Tip it removes too much of the wash! Anyone have experience with Tempera’s and have some advice??
The problems you are experiencing is why people don’t use tempera paints for washes.
Use oil paints. Screw 'it up and you can generally remove all of it.
