Is Mr Surfacer 1000 a primer or a filler.
I am worried that I loose to much detail, what are you guys using?
Personally, I use vallejo’s grey surface primer. Self leveling, decent grab, not perfect but works pretty well.
I use Krylon primer. It is a thick primer and does act as somewhat of a filler. If there is very fine detail, it can obscure it, especially very fine panel lines. But it acts as an excellent primer-filler so I am ready to do the extra work. I think many panel lines on kits are quite overdone anyway.
I think Mr.1000 is a primer, I’ve got a jar but havent tried it yet. I use 500 all the time as filler. I just shot Alclad white for the first time on a 1/72 Hase Tornado. I was extremely happy, super fine, drys amazingly fast and no thinning required. Great stuff.
Its both. Mr. Surfacer likes to be thinned so when airbrushing it will not fill in the surface details. Use it un-thinned for small sink marks and gaps or scratches. Works awesome.
