Cool pics MR!
great photos MR. both look like ha-go type 95, unsure what tank in background of second photo is though.
That’s pretty cool that you got a picture of “Doris” there. The decals for “Doris” are included in Academy’s M4A2 kit. Here’s a pic of the model I did of it:

Wow…that is cool…is that the DML, Tarawa Shermie?
It’s Academy’s. Here’s the link: http://www.modelrectifier.com/search/product-view.asp?ID=1786
The decals on the box show “Nightmare II”. Included in the box is the decals for “Doris”.

MY DAD WAS THERE!!! It’s the Battle of Munoz!!! The Japanese decided to get their armor into the mountains, and it was about 0200, and they went running down the highway past a battery of 105’s, and they opened up point blank on the armor on the road. The pictures tell the rest of the story. My Dad said all the Japanese tanks were knocked out, and there were no American loses. Dad had some pictures of the dead, but the censors took them away from him. He didn’t care much for them, (japanese) even till he passed in 1999.
In the second photo, the leading (background) Japanese tank looks like a Shinhoto Chi Ha. Hard to be certain due to the addon box on the rear of the engine deck.
The top photo is from Saipan, if I am not mistaken. I will have to check my references on Japanese tank insignias.
The bottom one with “Doris” is Iwo Jima, and #3 from the Marianas campaign. The winged star was one of the Marine Tank Battalion’s insignia.
Nice to see some PTO photos![tup]
my wife’s Grandmother was in Manila during the occupation and liberation!

{As a friend tolled me let the [Animosity] of the past stay in the past. The Japanese people are a wonderful people. “Remember” We all are happy to get our hand’s on some new kit that are so detailed from the Japanese.}
huh?
Wow, a story to go along with the pics…too cool…maybe these are the pics they took from your dad!
OK, checked photo refs and such. The turret insignia on the top photo is from the Japanese Tank Company of the 14th Infantry division which fought on Pelilieu. That would explain the Marines on top of the KO’d tank.
#2 photo.The KO’d Japanese tank in the background of the second photo is indeed a Shinhoto Chi Ha. The square hatch on the rear of the turret and two top hatches are recognition features. This shot appears similar to others taken on Luzon in the Phillipines.
The winged star insignia on the Marine M4 is from the Marine 3rd Tank Battalion which fought from Tarawa, the Marshalls, the Marianas and finally at Iwo Jima. The town in the background suggests this photo is from around the Marianas fighting.
…wow…thanks for the research—that sheds some new light on these pics…
