President's Helicopter

Is that an Sikorsky SH3 or something else?

Both VH-3Ds and VH-60Ns are used as Presidential transports.

Soon the EH101 will be added to the HMX-1 inventory.

I thought the Sea Stallion was part of HMX-1.

The HMX-1 Sea Stallions are used to support / transport the Company of Marines that escort the President wherever he goes. They are not used as Presidential transport aircraft. They are painted in normal low-vis two-tone gray scheme.

HMX-1 also has a few CH-53Es and CH-46Es on the “Green Side” to transport Marines as well as provide training support for OCS and TBS in Quantico.

Academy’s 1/48 Phrog (CH-46E) has a photo as a build option.

HSL-51 in Atsugi, Japan had a VH-3 that I would see flying every so often. I should have got some pics while I was there! - Calvin

Hi, (I’m new here :D)
regarding the vh-60n, I was wandering weaher any of you know when it
became the president’s transportation… like in the 60’s, 70’s… etc…?

Welcome aboard BigCat!

VH-60 didn’t enter service until the 1990s. The Black Hawk helicopter itself didn’t enter service until the late 70s/early 80s

Thanks! i feared it was so…
so the vh-60n is based on the blackhawk model… is the vh-3ds a modified version
of another sikorsky? [confused] it looks alot like something else, cant quite put my finger on it…

VH-3D is the VIP transport version of the SH-3 Sea King helicopter.
