Hi folks.
I had this kit in my junk box out in the garage for nearly two years. The kit is the old raised line H’gawa F-4J. The fit is excellent of course! I started this kit as the “J” with the AM Black Box office. Keep in mind, as a modeller I have matured a bit since then; but that AM office did not fit the older mold for some reason. So I gave up.
Recently I decided to go back and resurrect the J into an S. I could not find a 1/48th S on E-bay or anywhere, so I used the slats and wingtips from the Italeri f-4F/E kit. Seems to be coming right along. I did not try to rescribe the panel lines because the kit was already so far along.
These images reflect basic construction, paint, and some weathering. I still need to go back and re-paint the office and fix a seam I noticed just aft of the cockpit. Future and decals are right around the corner.
And wouldn’t you just know it - a couple of weeks ago I found a H’gawa 1/48th S on E-bay and payed more than I wanted, but hey, the kit is out of production right? Wrong! The S is being re-released this month for about $20.00 less than I payed!!! Oh well, I guess one can never have too many Phantoms…
