would the camo have been painted over the original german grey paint?
would they have already been painted over in Russia before they got to the Ardennes?
thanks,
Jason

Please don’t shoot. What is BOB?
Hmmmm I don’t think there were any Tiger I’s in the battle of the bulge.
If there were ( and again Im not sure there was ) they would have been in camo, it is so late in the war that there either wasn’t any early Tigers left or they would have been repainted, probably serveral times.
One example is the Tiger I’s of Kampfgruppe Fehrman, they were early Tiger I’s used in the end of the war ( Not in the battle of the bulge though ) but they had been refitted with steel rimed road wheels and had zimmerit applied to them. Some of them used to be in grey but they had been repainted.
Me bad. Actually, As far as I can tell, there were 30 from the 501 ss pz bn of the 1 SS Pz Div. LAH. As far as paint, I imagine most would be Mid or Late and they probably already had the tri-color cammo already.
there were Tiger 1s in the Battle of the Bulge
they were Early Tigers with steel wheels from schwere Panzer Kompanie Hummel then when Hummel was incorporated into Panzer Abteilung 506,
they were painted in the usual three colour cammo
tiger 411was destroyed on January 15 1945 near Oberwampach
I watched “Tiger Attack” off the Tevo the other day from the History Channel, and they did talk about Tiger 1’s in the Battle of the Bulge, along with King Tigers.
I’m not sure if this post is aimed at me?
I answered a Question about this the other day
the Tiger started out at an old training school from Schwere Panzer Ersatz- und Ausbildung Abteilung 500 in Paderborn, 411 was also at Arnhem with Heavy tank company Hummel, the when Schwere Panzer Kompanie Hummel was incorparated into schwere Panzer Abteilung 506. As the 506 was at that time being completely rearmed with the Tiger 2 the Hummel company kept its independance and its Tiger 1
