Polly s grimy black

Finally used up my last bottle of Polly S grimy black it was my go to color for road wheels, what other brand of paint makes a good match

When Testors bought Polly Scale they kept some of the railroad colors. Grimy Black was one that Tesor’s kept. It’s in their Model Master Acryl line - #4887 Grimy Black in a 1/2 ounce bottle.

My LHS put the “new” Testors railraod colors in an empty section of their Polly Scale rack.

Thanks CG Bob

Engine black.

I get a really great response at whatever LHS I can find. They pull out the box of Polyscale, or Floquil.

My big bug is collecting the last bottles of “Concrete”.

Oh, and “Depot Buff”. I’ll buy you dinner at a good restaurant for that. I had a Behr mix, but it’s thick.

Honestly, go to AC Moore’s or Michael’s craft store and find a suitable acrylic that matches. And really, in truth, it’s no big deal to just mix another color from Black and Tan, or Black and Green, or even aw Umber or brown. Experiment and you’ll fin something that suits you just fine. The smart thing o do is to just learn to mix colors as you need them; you’ll never find yourself without a “go to” color. [&]

I just mix Tamiya German Grey and Flat Black

Engine Black is pretty much Flat Black in the new line. I bought a bottle of that stuff when the local Railraod Shop started carrying the new MM Railraod colors. It has no marked difference from basic Flat Black. Grimy Black is far lighter and grayer with just a hint of brown to it, almost like Gray 36081.

MM has come out with Concrete in their new RR colors. I bought a bottle of that as well. But it is a nice light gray with hint of sand to it. I dont have the old original Floquil color to compare it with. I also grabbed the new MM RR line “Earth”. Nothing at all like the old Floquil Earth in shade, darkness, or hue.[:(]

And there was one called “Steam Power Black” that was also really dark.

Doesn’t MM have one named “Rubber”. Some company used to.

GM i’ll check with our RR LHS. what do you consider a good restaurant?

Testors square bottle stuff has one. A dark brown black that reminds me more of road grime and brake dust build up on tire sidewalls than a proper faded rubber.
