Please tell me why.....?

Can anyone please tell me why, the Armor Forum leads in posts, has the most group builds and has an very active membership, but only has one photo in the readers gallery? It seems to be a trend with FSM, they are always “light” in the armor area! I say it’s time to stand up and tell the people at FSM we demand more “airtime” !! (Get it "AIR"time!) [}:)] [}:)] [}:)] [}:)]

That’s one of my grumbles too. I want more workbench reviews also. So many new kits and so little information.

Not necessary. We are cuter than anybody else. And that’s what matters most. LOL.

LOL …Dwight!

Hear Hear, there can only be so many reviews of “New 1/32 scale _____ fighter”

Hmmm, I must have a problem counting, I thought I saw 5 armor kits on the opening page! But the point is well taken and we should do something about that![:D]

I’ve always wondered why armor doesn’t get more reviews too. and how about some on the 1/72 front??

Well why dont all you armor people do some reviews of the kits you build:-) Sounds like a plan huh???

Cause personally I’m a builder and not much of a writer. Except for engineering reports for a living and I’m sure thats not the kind of writing they are looking for. Would like to see more armor in the mag though.

Doing a build and doing a build for a review are 2 very different things.

When you build a kit for a review, you need to plan it well ahead of opening the Box:
When to take pictures
What sections to go into detail
etc.

Building for a review can easily lengthen the project by 2~3 times.

Not sure what opening page you mean, but I see only one (M36 Jackson)

Because I’m a blabber and not much of a builder anymore. [:D]

I did do a review of the T-55 Enigma tank, complete with photos and posted parts of it here in the Forums as a WIP Thread. I also submitted it for publication in the IPMS OC newsletter. Unfortunately, my pics aren’t of a quality that is acceptable to Finescale Modeler, so they won’t publish it. I’m going to try and see if “On The Way” or some other website will publish it, once I find out how to merge the pics with the document. I have plans to try again with another kit; I just don’t know which one.

Although, I guess I could always convert some of my ‘Factory Tours’ to Kit reviews. Still, the photos are too far down the scale in Quality for Finescale to publish.

Reveiws for FSM have to be through Paul Boyer. In other words, they don’t accept unsolicited reveiws. HOWEVER! If you want to reveiw an upcoming kit or want to do an article, feel free to contact Paul at pboyer@finescale.com or pboyer@kalmbach.com He’s always glad to field questions.

Aritcle submissions can be made without asking FSM first and writing skills don’t matter as much as doing good photos of the build. (Believe me, I know). If you want to do an article, again, contact Paul or any of the editors and they’ll send you an outline of do’s and don’t’s. It’s really easy to do an article, much more so than you’d think. We have SO many great builders here, they should give it a try!

The Forum can only post what they get photos of… so send photos! I think it would be nice if the magazine posted some photos from the FSM site and group builds. More aircraft than tanks? Sadly, more are assembled by modelers… same with cars.

Now, what gets ME is Squadron’s “Kit of the Year” it’s aways a ##&$ airplane! Of course, they started as a model airplane shop a LONG time ago!

My two cents.

As I recall, the review section of FSM says they do not accept unsolicited review articles. Maybe they should solicit some from Brian. He’s got the experience of review writing, and then we could all get to see his stuff up close and personal!!

right on ddayomaha. It seems that one of these areticles are ALLWAYS gracing the front page in the last couple of issues. I’d LOVE to see some more armour coverage.
I just ordered Great Scale Modelling. I hope it’s not all air dios.

How about the link to the left that says Reader Gallery? Are you talking about the actual magazine and not this web site? [:p]

Well, if I’d open my eyes and look around, I’d see the sumbission guidelines and contacts are on the sidebar of the forum page! Duh.

Ron

Don’t worry, lots of armor. That’s one area we have them whipped at is dioramas. Much harder to do a plane scenario than a tank. IMHO.
