Please ID this aircraft

Anyone?

It was taken at the Cincinnati, OH, Lunken Airport c1945 by my grandfather. I searched the N number, but it came up invalid.

Thanks,

matt

This a/c no. is listed as one of two AGC-8 aircraft, [NC20905 & NC20909], impressed by the USAAF.

Nice photo.

Thanks Greg!

I tried to look up the N number on the FAA website, but got no results. Where did you find the info?

My pleasure.

I thought I recognized it as a Waco, so I Googled that and the N-number together. It turned up quite a few hits on various “golden age of aviation” websites. (I’ve found in the past that the FAA listings are often useful only if the a/c is a current or relatively recent registration, depending on the type.)

By the way…did you notice the name “Whistler II” on the cheat line?

Thanks again, Greg. I was thinking going to the source (FAA) would be sufficient. I work for the governemnt, so I should have known better.

Yes, I did notice the “Whistler II”. I curious to know what “Whistler I” was.

Waco made some beautiful planes, and I especially like this one. Wish someone would kit these.

Khee Kha Art Products makes a 1/72 YKS in vacform, and Wings 48 used to make a UIC but it is not in production at present, in 1/48 of course. Don’s model works makes the Wings kits.

Thanks John. I prefer to work in 1/48 so I can have an easier time detailing kits. I’ll keep these in mind!
