I need help i just purchased an old amt kc-135R kit however the refueling boom is destroyed! Does anyone have an extra boom? I am willing to pay for one. Does anyone know who has built older amt kits that might have one? I can use a boom from any AMT kit,

Maybe you could try to get in contact with Heller and have them send you the sprues that you need. The Heller offering is from the old AMT line anyways. Just my opinion.

not making any promises yet but I have one of the old AMT kits in my davis monthan box but Im not sure if the boom is still attached. If it is, its painted and assembeled if your still intrested. Im at work right now and wont be home for another 12 hrs. soon as I get there I’ll check for you. (The Heller kits are just reboxings of the old AMT/ERTL kits)
I would be very interested nomatter what the condition. Im pretty sure any boom is in better condition than mine. Also does it have the moveable pipe or is it fixed inside the boom?

I think it may be missing the wing stabalizers though

ugg… I was so tired when I got home last night I forgot about all things plastic and crawled into bed without hesitation. No Im back at work doin it all over again… the never ending nightmare. Promise, tonight when I get home Ill check. Id call my wife and ask her to look for me but I can only imagine how that conversation would go… “the box with the airplanes” which one? “the ones that are broken” you have a box of broken airplanes? " ok whats a KC-135? and what does this probe thingy look like? When I get home my box will be thrown away and my wife will be reminded how many unbuilt kits I have after going into my room and before you know it Ill be going straight to bed again just so I dont have to listen to her… [:D]
No worries, take your time ive got plenty of it. I dont think id even need it for about three more weeks. I can understand trying to explain it to your wife. I have a girlfriend that tries to understand aircraft but that never seems to get very far.[^]

I just had a look at the boom from my broken 135 and its not usable. Last time I cleaned up I put the box my spares were in atop a heater and apparently left it there too long. The entire back end of my 135 is kinda like a plastic blob. Im still looking through my kits in the basement. For some reason I think I may have one of amt’s 135’s down there that I used as a kit bash and never used the boom… but I cant seem to find it. Youd think a box that big would stand out.

I had been looking all over for the Heller KC-135R to know avail. However Squadron.com has the C135 - the French version of the KC-135R and with the new Mark 32B wingtip hose and drogue air refuelling pods.
If you don’t mind paying that amount, you can have yourself a second kit and you can use make masters off of the French kit and replicate them if you know how to do your own vacuum form.
The boom is also easy enough to do with balsa too.
I used to work on the KC-135R’s as a crew chief from 1995-1999.
