I understand your anger, but you should take a look in the of topic forum, there is more than one thread there today about this subject, I have one myself under the name “Thank you from a european” [:)]
That doesnt tell me why all anyone cares about is their latest build…
No offense to anyone though… It’s just how I feel.
I would echo monrad’s comments, there are several tasteful and respectful threads dealing with our rememberance and respect for the actions undertaken by brave soldiers from many countries 60 years ago. A lot of members here on FSM have taken the time to express their thoughts for the sacrifices made on D-Day, please take the time to read those threads before casting us as disrespectful or uninterested in the weight of this day.
Off topic? Now D-Day is just an off topc subject huh? THAT IS THE TOPIC!!! War, WWII in particular, how is that off topic? We arent talking about someones favorite bubble gum or how fat their big toe is… Anyway, since this is the Armor forum, leave your thoughts and prayers here for the men who died in the ground forces. The blown up tanks etc. My hat goes off to them…
I will look in the other forum as well though… Thanks for reading.
The Off Topic Forum is a general form where all members visit and exchange ideas, it in no way disrespects the memory of those who fought for the freedom of Europe during World War Two. Those who posted their threads there did so in order that all members were likely to see them and respond.
soldier i can understand your view but you must understand we all deal with our emotions in different ways. i am in the dday build and i am using that build to pay tribute in my own small way to those who died on the beaches and in the groves. for those who trained all those months to die before they ever touched the beach. i am using the pearl harbor build much the same way. it is not that i do not want to pay tribute or to remember or honor them, please do not look at it that way. we all pay homage in our own ways. in fact i have several builds coming up to pay tribute to several different individuals.
im not trying to shoot you down, nor am i angry at the comments. normally i wouldnt defend my actions but in this case i believe what you see as caring about the latest build is more of a misconception on your part.

I had both of my great uncles in WWll one a sherman tank commander the other a grunt. They have both passed away in the last 4 years. This for me is one way of saying thank you for the chance for freedom to reign.I do think of the sacrifices both sides took for what they belieived in.I wake every morning to one of my uncles Flag that was used to cover his Casket that reads I am Free 11-17-1918 to 4-11-2002. Who are you to flame at us for a “plastic model Festivel”. Do you know what else we do in our time away from the forum …NO!! Everyone has their way of saying thanks or showing tribute. For me this is one. What else are we to do. We all will never forget.
You seem to think that we don’t care about WWII or D-day…NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH.
Why is it in the of topic forum you ask. This is a modeling forum. We may have a D-day GB in this forum but on this day, D-day is not just another modeling subject, and should there fore be in another forum. We don’t have a special D-day forum so we have to use the next best thing which is the of topic forum.
Should we spend the entire day talking about D-day ??? That would help nobody.
But we should observe a moment of silence in respect of the fallen, and we should remember why they fought and died, not only today but every day. [:)]
I understand this “off-topic” discussion forum now…Sorry for this post, I truly thought no one cared much… Sorry on my behalf…
The others are correct WWIIsoldier. The D-Day build actually got off the ground as a tribute to all those that sacrificed their lives on that day. The masses here care and reflect on that momentous day.
Thank you WWIIsoldier, that is a big thing to do. [:)]
I took no offence and I meant no offence. Alot of emotions are involved in things like this, and we all deal with it in different ways.
i took no offense soldier. none at all. as i said i believe it was just a misconception.
joe
Thank you for your understanding.
Couldnt be farther from the truth my friend. Just from my short time here I have noticed alot of the guys are either in the service or retired. And a few who are in Iraq that still post from the field. And they all are consered about their lives. One of the most careing bunch I have found in any forum.[:)] I too took no offense either it is a hard time or day. lots of emotions
