Planet Models, any good?

I was looking in my LHS today and saw some kits by Planet Models and was considering adding them to my “would be nice” list of kits. Inparticular was a 1/48 Aero L-29 Delfin trainer and a 1/72 “Tacit Blue” experimental stealth aircraft.

This company’s kits were way out of my price league back in Canada, but maybe reachable at a stretch here in the Czech Republic.

Does anybody have any experience with this company’s kits? What can you tell about what I can expect from them?

Thanks in advance

I’ve got one of their Heinkel He P.1077 Romeo kits and it’s pretty nice, for a resin job. Dunno how they go together; haven’t built any of 'em but on the whole their resin is some of the nicest I’ve seen…

Fade to Black…

I have built a couple of their kits, the Julia and the Flitzer (reviewed on my site) and found them to be very easy resin kits to build. The parts fit was better than average (for resin), panel lines were engraved, decals are somewhat brief but behaved well, resin was fairly warp free but did have some micro holes that needed filling. If you want to break into full resin builds Planet is a good place to start.

Hey, how’s the new job working out?

Thanks for the input guys.

To answer your question ,Swanny, the job is yet to be locked up. I did some pavement pounding on Monday, but we’re having something of a heat wave here in Brno, so I’ve spent the past couple of days sending out resumes by e-mail to escape the heat. I’m told its still summer vacation for those in the education field and next week will probably be better for getting interviews and contacts. I’ve filled out a couple of e-mailed questionaires from a pair of prospective employers and hopefully interviews will ensue shortly.

I’m told the Czech Republic is the hotspot in Europe for English teaching and finding work here is easy, so hopefolly I’ll have good news on that front before long.[:D]
