For you guys who need a little inspiration to build that Revell Piper Cub in your stash…a couple seen at this past weekend’s Ski Plane Fly In at AirVenture-Oshkosh.
Thanks, Hawk. Great pictures of a great aircraft. My early hours were in an old Taylorcraft. I missed having time in the Cub. The Aeronca Champs and Chiefs were also good ole ships.
Beautiful pictures. I think that is an old J-3 Cub. The Revell Cub is a PA 18, aka Super Cub. I have flown both and that is real seat of the pants flying, low and slow. Doing a “three point landing”, that is to touch down on the mains and the tail wheel (skid) at the same time is a real skill. The DC-3 landing is also fun, that is touch down on the mains and let the tail settle. If you are solo in the J-3 you have to sit in the rear seat to balance the airplane. Those pics bring back some real wonderful memories. I have the Revell kit in my pile of kits “to-build”. I’m looking for a good paint scheme.
