Pieces of Kate

I have the little fiddly bits mostly finished. My next step is to add the washes to the airframe, as well as the gear doors and wheel hubs. Eduard has some beautiful PE sights and rear handle for the gun. I used a piece of solder for the wooden part.

The kit torpedo doesn’t have the wooden fins. I found a nice closeup pic, and made one from sheet styrene. The blades on the torpedo screws are molded with a triangular shape (thickness-wise), so I thinned them and painted them Alcad copper. The torpedo itself is Alcad Dark Aluminum. All the metallics are different shades of Alcad.

I hope to start the washes (six colors) tomorrow (Monday).

The kit is Hasegawa’s 1/48 B5N2 Model 3 “Kate,” with Eduard PE detail set.

Nice. The gun looks really cool.

Very nice detail work Bill.

Nice.

Thanks Dubau, Marc, Rick, and smokinguns !

Marc - the PE sights are beauties. I cut small notches in the barrel to glue them in place. They even align when you look down the barrel. You can’t see it in the pic, but the strap for the ammo drum is also PE. If you have a Kate in your build pile, I HIGHLY recommend the Eduard PE set.

Thanks again !

Pix,

Another masterpiece in the making! I feel compelled to make this observation, however; while each build outdoes the previous, each title pun (pieces of Kate?) is a bit more of a groaner! [swg] Thanks for sharing with us, I’ll be looking for the next update shots!
