It’s my pleasure to announce that Model Maniac Page 25 - Part C is now available!
Most armors in this Part are newly-released armors, very interesting ones :
Skybow’s M38 A1 U.S. Army 1/4 ton Utility Truck
Trumpeter’s JGSDF NBC Detection Vehicle
Trumpeter’s Russia KV-2 Tank
Trumpeter’s German 12.8cm Selbstfahrlafette L/61 “Sturer Emil”
Dragon’s Sd. Kfz.181 Panzerkampfwagen VI (P)
Diorama “Tiger In Russia” using Dragon’s Tiger I Initial Production (3 in 1) and Tristar’s German Panzer Grenadiers Vol.2 and Mini-Art’s Ukrainian City Building
looks ok, but the decals on your Tiger P are flaking off, and aren’t on, the Tiger I in your dio isn’t right with that extra stowage bing, #100 didn’t have it… other than that, you did some good weathering on there and what not…
He doesn’t build these models, he has a builder for them.
However, impressive work as usual. This batch has quite a few interesting models. Very nice work on the Trumpeter KV-2 and SPG.
The stuff looks great, as usual. Your builder has very impressive skills.
One nit – the Sturer Emil is probably overweathered. Those things didn’t last very long, and the pics of the one captured by the Russians show it in pretty much new condition.
The Tiger I looks like the one the Russians had on display after capturing it. There were fenders on the side tracks and the extra storage on the one side. I have not seen the other side of the turret. I don’t know it it was something the Russians added or ir the Tiger’s crew added them before it was captured.
Well it would all depend on what time period you were modeling that tank in.If you were building it as it was before it was captured at Leningrad it would have two storage bins one on each side. This setup was unique to sPzAbt 502 number 100.
If you were building it to reprsent a model after it was captured, tested and being displayed then you should leave off the right hand bin.It was removed at some point by the russians during testing.I have been unable to find out why other than it was removed.
As you can see from the bottom photos even though the right hand bin was removed you can still see the front mounting straps were still left in place for some reason.
It’s a very nice build-up, but as a quibble, the infantry are not the right period to go along with the tank. For one thing, one of the guys has a StG44 assault rifle, which came long after this tank was captured by the Russians. Still, it’s a great modeling job.
