Don’t knock your older models, they are very good considering your age and skill level at the time. I still display some of my first builds. Two that I’m proud of is the bright baby blue Monogram SBD and my red, white, and blue AT6.

I think they are all good builds.I like the starfighter best though.
Ahhh yes the good ol days…no references ,no cares about silvering, put on as many bombs as you like…sniff
for first models they are awesome!!! i started when i was 7!! my first was a fairly baracuda, NO PAINT!!! milky white windows (it was a kit that had the glue included and u had to apply it with a toothpick)…and right now…well it has one propeler…bumpy ride !!!, milky white cracked windows, no landing gear, not even strut covers, a piece of thread for an antenna (how did i know @ 7 yrs old!!) pieces of decals, gray color (restoration attempt @ 12yrs old) and a HUGE seam down the middle…
i dont know if i should restore it or keep it as a memory…
they are only as mediocre as you think they are.
Nothing mediocre about your work. It all looks pretty impressive to me. Semper Fi, mike
Reggie, I have to admit I am a bit jealous of the fact that you, and some other guys, still have some of their first builds[:(]
Mine were lost years ago, [BH][BH][BH][:(], and having something to remember the good ol’ days would be nice, no matter how mediocre YOU might think they are, in time to come when you win an IPMS event, you can look at how far your skills have come.
Man do I miss my F-16…
Man, reggie, there is nothing mediocre about your models! These are excellent! You want to see some crazy first builds? Well check these out!
This is my first airplane that I painted (one of the first to survive, and my second plane!)

This my first jet:

It was part of a two-plane kit by airfix from the Six Day War. I built the Mirage a few months after this one.
Next is my first Bomber, a Do-17Z:

I think I actually still have the wheels somewhere in my parts box! [:0]
Here’s my first Battleship, the Bismarck. Still looks pretty good for a 34-year-old kit!

The dark grey is from baking in the sun during numerous sea battles in the backyard pool. The masts were rebuilt using toothpicks and glued together with Testors wood glue.
And finally, here is my first Aircraft Carrier, the USS Forrestal:

Youi can see how back when I was about 14, I tried to ‘upgrade’ the antenna/masts that got lost. The one mast is an aircraft forward landing gear glued on upside down!
And yes, I do still have all these! They are great to look back on and remember good times, tough ‘battles’ and poorer skills. I can’t part with them now! [;)][:D]
So, reggie, enjoy the fact that your ‘mediocre’ first builds are far better than mine! [;)][:D]
Reggie-
Way cool man! look how far you’ve come, and just think where you’re gonna be man!
Ahh the nostalgia of the moment -takes me back to the seventies and those monogram and aurora kits, dogfights before bedtime…zzzzzz
