pics of various mediocre models

this is the monogram 1/72 starfighter. hand painted, not very well done at all. in the background is a macross something or other kit, another one done ages ago , i cant remember exactly what it is.

this is a 1/48 FW-190 , i cant even remember what kit it was or when i did it, it was that long ago. its done in arguably the most ridiculous scheme that you will ever see on a FW-190. below is a tamiya A1-H skyraider, done straight outta the box, with the spinning prop.

above are models from ye olde days where i could finish a model in 2 days flat…

Mate, if you think they are mediocre, wait til you see some of my builds from years ago, talk about pathetic. It’s all part of the learning curve. Can’t see anything wrong with those builds though. Thanks for sharing.

Reggie,

I agree with Daniel, there’s nothing mediocre with those builds. I don’t think any of mine from when I first started building models have survived. If you want to see ridiculous paint schemes, I have a friend who has painted the tails of two B-17’s one in fluro pink the other in fluro green.

i guess i have been outdone ! flouro colors on a B-17 !!! the mind reels ! [:O]

Your stuff looks good to me, Reggie!

They look good Reggie. Might not win any IPMS National Hardware, but far from mediocre. Thanks for sharing.

Regards, Rick

looks good reggie… the starfighter is particularly good because that is a durn good finish for brushed on! Like the skyraider too! oh… I already said that in another thread… somehow I have a softspot for them…

reggie i see nothing medeocre, thanks for sharing your work.

Your a lucky man Reggie,
Being a Military Brat and then joining the Military myself I no long have any of my first builds to reflect back on. But even with the few I have its easy to see how much better Ive become using tips and ideas from the guys here in the forum.
Looking good mate.

[tup] [tup] Reggie!!! Your builds look just fine to me. Keep it up!!!

where’s the mediocre models ??? , they look great to me [bow][bow]

Thanks for the peek. If you thing they are mediocre come see mine, yours beat mine hands down. I realy enjoy building them but they are nowhere close to anything I see on this site including yours.

I have a feeling that there should be a starfighter group build maybe sometime in the future Id be up for that cause its something different.

they look pretty good to me. nothing mediocre anywhere. i do like the paint scheme on the fw-190 though!

You know, sometimes I think I had more fun in the early days BANGING off a model in a couple of days and being thrilled at the finished product. I admit that the more proficient you become the more satisfying it is, but for pure thrill… maybe thats why the MAD build concept appeals to me.

Right now my 10 year old is in the middle of painting his first model airplane. I’m trying hard just to zip my mouth and let him have at it. Boy is he having fun and it doesn’t really matter to him how much paint is on the windows.

who are you kidding reggie? they look good pal, much better than my first builds!

are you kidding ? its exhilarating to slap plastic together at high speed. i build gundams for that. quick and simply a joy to build. after putting it together, putting the gundam into disco poses is also very fun [:D]

then again, as tom said in another thread, its satisfaction Vs. gratification.

Reggie,

Your models look great. What specifically makes you think they’re mediocre? From what I can see in the pictures, they’re well-assembled and well-finished. [:)]

Regards,

-Drew

P.S. Did you see my reply to your question about my user name?

Mediocre?.. they don’t seem to be mediocre… specially your Skyraider… well, the Macross/Robotech VF-1 in the first picture seems to be the Hikaru Ichijo/Rick Hunter’s VF-1J

Hey Reggie…there is nothing wrong with those examples. I think they look quite nice especially the Skyraider.

…and Chopperfan…SWEEET pics of the Privateer tankers…I have a sweet spot for any airframe that can assist forest fire operations. I think all three in your signature belong to Hawkins and Powers Aviation out of Greybull, Wyoming…it is great to see a warbird still serving in some capacity other than a static museum display…
