Well guys, you are probably getting sick of seeing my posts, but I have finished another one… I know it seems like I do alot, but I usually have 3 or 4 projects going at once. So if the paint is drying on one job, I work on something else…
Anyways, this time I decided to do the Trumpeter 1/32 Kittyhawk kit, and it was a little challenging to say the least. But for $20, I cant complain… I also decided to go with a Kittyhawk, because I wanted an old RAAF 3 squadron bird to put next to my 1/32 Academy F/A-18C, also in RAAF 3 squadron markings… Alot of people usually do Mustangs or Spits in RAAF markings. So the Kittyhawk was my choice!
As I was at the mercy of the markings in the kit, I basically had to cut them up and create new lettering with them… What a chore, but well worth it… I will say that the black serial is wrong for the history buffs, but its the best I could do… Also, because I had done so many Green Japanese birds lately, I wanted to do something in a desert scheme, as I had never done that before… I am happy the way it turned out!
As the Aussies flew under British markings in the second world war, I decided to use a little artistic licence, and placed a little back Kangaroo on the front, and a little “Southern Cross” on the tail to signify that it was a 3 squadron bird.

In this pic you can see the desert scheme with the sky blue underbelly… For some reason they sprayed half the left wing flat black… I really dont know the signifigance of this? (Anyone?)… Secondly, can you tell its not finished?. No landing gear to be seen…

My base, this time with the RAAF coat of arms and modern day roundal…

3 squadron, old and new. Sitting proudly in the entry to my home!

All I need to do now, is finish her off, and weather her, and she is done!.. I must say that she has been alot of fun, and looks great in the entry of my home…
