Picked up this photo at a flea market....

Anyone know what it is? It appears to be a short barrelled 155 on a Sherman HVSS hull. Other than that, I know nothing about this vehicle. The pic cost me a quarter, so I’m happy.

That’s an interesting vehicle… and a BIG gun!!!

I believe it is a M12 155 Motor Carriage Academy makes this kit .

yes that is a photo of the M-12 motor carriage

Now there’s a squirel huntin’ machine.

Sweet, thanks for the ID guys! Guess its a real late production one. I just love the HVSS suspension. Makes the vehicle look a heck of a lot bigger.

This is the Academy M-12 kit, which I built some time ago for the Australian Agents of this kit for a toy fair display, my added mud is a mixture of white glue, saw dust and pastel.

I’m no expert, but the HVSS suspension makes it a later variant than the M12. I’d say it is the M40 Gun Motor Carriage. Similar vehicle, but a newer model that saw service through the Korean War.

Notice where the man standing on the front fender is. Behind him the hull slopes upward at an angle and the hull goes the entire width of the track span. On the M12, the forward portion of the hull does not go all the way to the edge of the tracks and the hull has a 90 degree slope.

Matchbox did a kit of this in 1/76 scale and Snap Adams (later Life-Like) did a 1/40 scale one called “Choo Choo Baby”.

I am actually thinking that is the Israeli vehicle. They were known to use the HVSS on all of their Sherman variants. However, I am no expert.

My first reaction was that it is Israeli as well, but I’ll need to check when I get home and have access to reference material.
Forum sniping at work does have drawbacks!

I have to agree with Sabot here. That is an M40 GMC. Not an M12 or an Israeli version.
